WIN AN IPOD Your students can win an iPod. They can even win 2 iPods at this year's KHSJA convention! The 2009 KHSJA convention on April 15 will feature not one but two ways for students attending to win a brand new iPod. 1. Students attending the convention can enter a drawing to win an iPod. Details will be available at the convention. 2. KHSJA will sponsor a convention write-off competition. Students who compete will take notes of keynote speaker Terry Anderson's 20-minute keynote speech beginning at 9:05 a.m. at the convention. Afterwards, they will have from 9:30 a.m. to 11:05 a.m. to write their story on Anderson's speech. (Students will write their stories by hand on paper. Paper and pencils for note taking and story writing will be supplied at the convention.) First, second and third place winners will be announced during the awards program. Winners will receive a certificate to be mailed to them at their school within a week of the convention. But the first-place write-off winner will also receive a new iPod! Both iPods will be awarded at the convention! Write-off competitors must register -- either via e-mail through their teachers or at the convention on April 15. Teachers: to register your student(s) for the write-off, just e-mail their names to me at dgreer@kypress.com before noon ET on April 14. Stories will be judged on the quality of their leads, writing style, accuracy and overall content. Stories must be at least a page-and-a-half long single-spaced. Stories must be written by hand. No computers will be available at the convention.
