Newscast (Radio)
First place
Fern Creek Traditional High School
Brent Turner & Emily Alvey
This is a very professional newscast. Both anchors have pleasant voices with good enunciation. Pacing is good -- not too fast and not too slow. Copy is read smoothly. This was a very competitive category with several excellent entries and not much room separating the top three entries.
Second place
Fern Creek Traditional High School
Kodie Barner
You have a good voice -- probably the best among entries submitted. Your delivery is natural but sounds just a little too rushed. I wouldn't slow it down much but you're talking so fast that you almost sound breathless at times. Also, check out the pronunciation of the word "tour." It doesn't rhyme with "four." But it was a difficult decision between the top two entries. If you're passionate about radio, keep working at it. You have a future.
Third place
Fern Creek Traditional High School
Amanda Arnold & Emily Walls
Both anchors are smooth news readers with good deliveries and pleasant voices. Just a minor stumble in the "redesign the hot dog" story. Good job of handling the name of the president of Toyota. Very professional job. Keep up the good work.
DJ show
First place
Fern Creek Traditional High School
Allee Flener & Alex Lauyans
Nice voices. Smooth deliveries. I particularly liked your segment on the Facebook fight. This separated your entry from others because you guys had something interesting and relevant to talk about. But most all of the entries tended to rely too much on opening each segment with a crutch like, "Hey everybody, this is ...." or "Hey, what's up?" While this is OK occasionally, don't begin each set with it. Even the youngest, most hip audience will quickly tire of the same thing over and over.
Second place
Fern Creek Traditional High School
Kodie Barner
Really good voice and high-energy delivery propelled your entry to second place. Find some really interesting things to talk about on the air and you'll be in first place next time.
Third place
Fern Creek Traditional High School
John Burgin
Among all the radio entries, you probably have the purest voice and delivery. You're smooth. But you need a little more energy in your approach. Talk a little faster with a little more energy and you have a future in broadcast.
